قُتل جنرال روسي رفيع، اليوم الاثنين، إثر انفجار عبوة ناسفة زُرعت أسفل سيارته في جنوب العاصمة موسكو، في واحدة من أخطر العمليات الأمنية التي تشهدها روسيا منذ اندلاع الحرب في أوكرانيا.
وأعلنت لجنة التحقيق الروسية، المختصة بالجرائم الكبرى، فتح تحقيق رسمي في جريمة قتل الفريق أول فانيل سارفاروف، رئيس إدارة التدريب في هيئة الأركان العامة الروسية، مؤكدة أن العبوة الناسفة انفجرت فور تشغيل السيارة، ما أدى إلى مقتله على الفور.
وأفاد بيان رسمي بأن من بين الفرضيات الأساسية للتحقيق احتمال تورط قوات خاصة أوكرانية في تنفيذ الهجوم، في ظل نمط متكرر من العمليات التي استهدفت قيادات عسكرية روسية داخل الأراضي الروسية منذ بدء الغزو الروسي لأوكرانيا في فبراير 2022.
ويأتي هذا الاغتيال ضمن سلسلة هجمات بارزة شهدتها روسيا خلال السنوات الأخيرة، حيث قُتل في أبريل الماضي الجنرال ياروسلاف موسكاليك نائب رئيس هيئة الأركان العامة في تفجير سيارة قرب موسكو، كما لقي الجنرال إيغور كيريلوف قائد قوات الدفاع الإشعاعي والكيميائي والبيولوجي مصرعه في ديسمبر 2024 إثر انفجار دراجة كهربائية مفخخة، وهو هجوم أعلن جهاز الأمن الأوكراني مسؤوليته عنه.
وشملت العمليات السابقة أيضًا اغتيال المدون العسكري ماكسيم فومين في أبريل 2023 داخل مقهى بمدينة سانت بطرسبرغ، إضافة إلى مقتل داريا دوغينا ابنة المفكر القومي الروسي ألكسندر دوغين في تفجير سيارة عام 2022.
ويرى مراقبون أن اغتيال الفريق أول فانيل سارفاروف يشكل تصعيدًا نوعيًا خطيرًا، كونه يستهدف أحد كبار قادة هيئة الأركان، ما يفتح الباب أمام تداعيات أمنية وعسكرية واسعة داخل روسيا وخارجها.
وتشير التقديرات إلى أن موسكو ستتجه خلال المرحلة المقبلة إلى تشديد الإجراءات الأمنية حول القيادات العسكرية والمؤسسات السيادية، مع إعادة تقييم منظومة الحماية الشخصية لكبار المسؤولين، خاصة داخل العاصمة.
وعلى الصعيد العسكري، يُرجح أن ترد روسيا بضربات انتقامية مكثفة ضد أهداف أوكرانية، مستندة إلى سوابق سابقة ردّت فيها على عمليات الاغتيال بتوسيع نطاق الضربات الصاروخية واستهداف مراكز تدريب وبنى استخباراتية.
كما يعزز الهجوم الرواية الروسية القائلة إن الصراع لم يعد محصورًا في ميادين القتال داخل أوكرانيا، بل امتد إلى العمق الروسي، وهو ما قد تستخدمه موسكو لتبرير تصعيد أمني وعسكري أشمل، وتوسيع صلاحيات أجهزتها الاستخباراتية.
ويخلص مراقبون إلى أن اغتيال سارفاروف يمثل نقطة تحول خطيرة في مسار الحرب الروسية الأوكرانية، وينذر بمرحلة أكثر توترًا وتعقيدًا، قد تتراجع فيها الخطوط الحمراء، وتتصاعد فيها وتيرة المواجهة داخل وخارج ساحات القتال.

A senior Russian general was killed on Monday after an explosive device planted beneath his car detonated in the south of Moscow, in one of the most serious security incidents inside Russia since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine.
Russia’s Investigative Committee, responsible for major crimes, announced the opening of a criminal investigation into the murder of Colonel General Vanil Sarfarov, head of the Training Directorate of the General Staff. The committee confirmed that the explosive device detonated as the vehicle was started, killing him instantly.
In an official statement, investigators said that one of the main hypotheses being examined is the possible involvement of Ukrainian special forces, amid a recurring pattern of attacks targeting Russian military figures inside Russian territory since Moscow launched its military operation in Ukraine in February 2022.
The assassination comes as part of a series of high-profile attacks carried out in recent years. In April, General Yaroslav Moskalyk, Deputy Chief of the General Staff, was killed in a car bombing near Moscow. In December 2024, General Igor Kirillov, commander of Russia’s Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Defense Forces, was killed in Moscow by an explosive device attached to an electric scooter, an attack claimed by Ukraine’s Security Service.
Earlier incidents also include the killing of military blogger Maxim Fomin in April 2023 in a café in Saint Petersburg, and the car bombing that killed Daria Dugina, the daughter of nationalist thinker Alexander Dugin, in 2022.
Observers believe that the killing of Colonel General Vanil Sarfarov represents a significant escalation, as it targets a high-ranking General Staff official, potentially leading to far-reaching security and military consequences inside Russia and beyond.
Analysts expect Moscow to impose unprecedented security measures around senior military leaders and key state institutions, along with a comprehensive review of personal protection protocols for high-ranking officials, particularly in the capital.
On the military front, Russia is widely expected to respond with retaliatory strikes against Ukrainian targets, based on previous precedents in which Moscow answered assassination attacks by expanding missile strikes and targeting training and intelligence infrastructure.
The attack further reinforces the Russian narrative that the conflict has moved beyond the battlefield in Ukraine and into Russian territory itself, a development that could be used by the Kremlin to justify broader security and military escalation and expanded powers for its intelligence services.
Observers conclude that the assassination of Sarfarov marks a dangerous turning point in the Russia-Ukraine war, signaling a more volatile and complex phase in which red lines may continue to erode and confrontation intensify both on and beyond the front lines.
